Sleep Baby, Sleep Series: Tip #5, Sunrise, Sunset

When it’s daylight, be sure to expose your baby to plenty of sunshine. The natural cycle of light and dark can do a lot to regulate your baby’s internal clock.

Even if it’s only for a few minutes, at several intervals, throughout the day, use nature to your advantage. Over time, your baby will begin to understand that night is for sleeping and day is for playing and exploring. There are plenty of outdoor activities that are stimulating for parents and babies.

Go for a walk, a swim or a picnic in the park. Babies love to explore new environments and change can be helpful for moms and dads, too. The sooner baby can get on a fairly regular schedule, the better.

Make sure to apply sunscreen if you’re heading to the pool or someplace where baby will be in direct sun.
